Central Line Management

Central Line Management

MSC's Central Line Management Program provides hands-on guidance on catheter insertion and management best practices to help prevent and manage central line bloodstream infections in hospitals.

Central venous catheters are being used increasingly to provide long-term venous access. Each year, an estimated 250,000 cases of central line-associated bloodstream infections occur in hospitals in the United States, with an estimated attributable mortality of 12 to 25 percent for each infection and at a marginal cost to the healthcare system of approximately $25,000 per episode.*
